OctoPi + Kossel Mini

The main issues I have with dedicating a computer to a printer is that I can’t do anything processor intensive and it’s loud. Since I’m on winter break, I started playing with Raspberry Pi for the first time and set a remotely operated printer as my goal. At first, I tried setting up a VNC server and viewer which allowed me to remote control the Pi, but finding an easy (lazy) way of pushing gcode commands stumped me.

This prompted me to try out OctoPrint. So far, OctoPi has been working beautifully and I am experiencing none of the jitters that came with tying my work computer to it.

I would also recommend using the Motorola LapDock with the Pi instead of using separate monitor, mouse, and keyboard. The battery life is amazing and I get an extra 2 USB ports; can’t complain about that.
